The Portal is dedicated mainly to entrepreneurs looking for domestic innovations. The goal of the Portal named „Database of knowledge on new technologies” is gathering in one place an information on innovation achievements of research institutes (especially those supervised by the Ministry of Economy) and entrepreneurs whom Minister of Economy granted status of research-development centre, and allowing all interested entrepreneurs browsing these information with usage of friendly interface. Entrepreneurs have also opportunity to apply for a request on required technology solutions.
Portal consists of two parts: information part including mainly databases and integration one, including tools for contacts, being a communication platform between experts from institutes, centres and a group of potential customers of technology. Information part includes offers and requests for innovative devices or technologies, information on institutes and centres – innovation inventors, in form of institute or centre profile and links to their websites.
At a first step to the Database entered advanced innovative solutions obtained as a result of a long-term programme “Improvement of systems for development of innovation in production and application in years 2004-2008” named PW-004. At present registration to the Database is open to all research institutes and research-development centres, which thereby pledge themselves to promote the project and actively develop it. In information part there is also news bulletin and set of information useful in the implementation of innovation (the instruments intended to support entrepreneurs’ innovativeness, legislation concerning innovation) as well as links to other databases of innovative technologies.
Integration part links users of portal – institutes, centres, Ministry of Economy and entrepreneurs and enables them among others common creation of the content (comments, valuations, common maintenance of the system of offers and requests), communication between users especially between innovation inventors and entrepreneurs.
After prior registration entrepreneurs interested in certain offer can get access to the details, then using tools of portal can arrange a direct contact with the owner of innovation. The both partners can set up a range of possible co-operation and this process is fall outside of monitoring by system to assure negotiation privacy.
Entrepreneurs who can’t find appropriate offer are capable of entering to portal their requests of sought after technology or device. If only the request appears, the system using the key words, automatically checks whether the request go with the category of any offer or a profile. Supposing a matching would happen there be an automatic connection between the creator of request and certain institute (or centre). In the opposite case, institutes and centres themselves will try to estimate the level of convergence their research with the theme of request and arrange a contact to propose a possible cooperation in finding the solution of problem.
The portal is also aimed as well at an internationalisation of research and innovation activity of institutes as at boosting such internationalisation of research-development centres therefore the database is bilingual Polish and English and its offers are considerably in line with the standards of business and technology cooperation database of the Enterprise Europe Network. Additional advantage is a fact that the database is administrated by a government institution Ministry of Economy which assure simultaneously an access to other its resources, therein concerning the instruments and financial resources supporting innovation of research institutes and entrepreneurs.
